A scroll on the pump shaft runs in a close clearance carbon bush to prevent vapour escaping or reaching the shaft bearings. In addition a vapour seal is mounted directly below the bottom bearing.
The pump suction is provided with a short extension pipe and suction strainer. Pump suction port, pipe and strainer are all screwed, to allow substitution of alternative lengths of pipe if required.
